Mussoorie Itinerary: Places to Visit, Best Hotels & More
Looking for a Mussoorie Itinerary? How about a spontaneous trip to the hills, that too with a toddler? Sounds like absolute crazy – right? But guess what? We did it! Do I recommend this? No, not in a zillion years!
So, we went unplanned. Now, this is peculiar for a person like me who likes things in their place. Zero time for shopping & checklists, we just hopped on the opportunity to travel. After all, we’ve always been exhausted parents of a super-energetic child who leaves no stone unturned to get on our nerves. (P.S. Don’t judge us)
Well, just like every trip, we learnt our lessons and learnt them hard. So, how do you think you can plan a trip to Mussoorie? I’ll share our entire Mussoorie Itinerary which you need for your peace of mind. Let’s get started!
Reaching Mussoorie via Haridwar (Day 1)
We drove to Mussoorie via car and decided to stay at Haridwar for a night to avoid an extra-long journey. After reaching Haridwar in the afternoon, we started hunting for a property closer to ‘Har Ki Pauri’. Finally, we found one with a clear view of Ganga Aarti.
We got a suite-type room which was spacious & hygienic. The best part was the view. If you want to avoid the rush with your kid, you can peacefully sit on your sofa and enjoy the auspicious ‘Ganga Aarti’. The same night, we took a stroll in the local market and had dinner at Hoshiarpuri Dhaba. The foooddd gave us real foooodgasm. The tastiest Dal Makhani and Biryani ever!
The next morning, we didn’t wake up on time as expected and enjoyed the aarti from our room. Took a dip in Holi Ganges, had breakfast and left for MUSSOORIE!
Property Name: Hotel Gyan (4/5)

Mussoorie: Best Hotels (Day 2)
Ah! Finally, we reached! – As I was about to say this, & suddenly we (my husband and I) recalled that we had no hotel booked. Reason? He is a lazyass! Okay, so we wanted a property near Mall Road itself & we were not looking for something over expensive.
You know the biggest mistake we made? We went during a holiday weekend, so the majority of the good hotels were booked. After checking with numerous properties, we shortlisted two options. Trust us or not, these are the best family-friendly hotels you can find near Mall Road.
Valley View: Check – Good Aesthetics: Check – Customised Baby Food: Check – Hygiene, Safety, Spacious, Budget-Friendly: Check, Check, Check. Since it ticked all our checkboxes, we shortlisted Hotel Karishna & Hotel Pride. Between two, we finalised Hotel Pride as it offers scrumptious non-veg cuisine with Terrace Lounge offering Live Music and Barbeque for weekend nights.
Pro-Tip: Book your hotels in advance & avoid holiday weekends to escape crowds & price surge. Also, keep your toddler in a pram and prefer walking over driving, as traffic will eat up your time.

Mussoorie Itinerary: Places To Visit
Day 3
Since Day 2 was all about hotel hunting, we ended the day early with a night stroll in the local market.
The next morning, we were all ready to cherish the ultimate Queen of the hills. With pleasant weather, the queen was shining in all her glory. But look at our kid, she gave us a surprise as we were about to leave. We call it ‘POOP SURPRISE’. My husband is crying in the corner. Does this happen with all the parents in the world? They say, That’s how kids are. Wish someone had told us earlier.
Our first stop of the Mussoorie Itinerary: Company Bagh. Getting ready, having breakfast & cleaning shit ate up our energy cells. So Company Bagh kept our toddler entertained and gave us the precious 2 hours to unwind and relax. We did boating, clicked pictures, played a few games, stuffed our bellies, and left. We don’t recommend this place for lunch as the food quality is quite average.

Next stop of the Mussoorie Itinerary: The Buddha Temple. The aura, serenity, calmness, positivity – you will feel it all once you enter this majestic temple. Situated at a hilltop offering spellbound views, there was something in its air which touched our minds & souls. We sat there for a while, read about their history, had a quick photo session and left the place.
Just outside the temple, we found a European-themed cosy cafe. The moment we entered the balcony, we were awestruck by the beauty of the Mussoorie hills. We sat there, sipped our coffee and grabbed croissants. It was delectable! Our kid, as usual, had fries. Thankfully, she loved it. Rating: 5/5

Final stop of the Mussoorie Itinerary: Dalai Hills. It’s a 400m trek to the Dalai Lama Statue set at the hilltop, offering a bird’s eye view of Queen Mussoorie. A hearty meal made us merrier, and we ended up on this trek with our kid in our lap. The passage is narrow, and it’s not feasible to carry a pram. Now, heavy winter clothes + a normal-weight kid = parents fighting to pile up on each other. You get it, if you get it!
Day 4
We wanted to keep the last day as light as possible since we had a long drive to follow. Thanks to our kid, who never fails to keep us on our toes.
Last Spot of the Mussoorie Itinerary: Gun Hill Point. You can take the cable ride from the mall road parking. Timings are usually 10 am – 6 pm. We reached around 11, and he was too petrified to take the ride. Acrophobia, of course! But between husband and wife, it’s the wife who always wins. Poor lad! He had to board in, because the lady wanted to enjoy the panoramic views.
Gun Hill is the second-highest point in Mussoorie, offering spectacular views of Doon Valley. If you’re lucky enough with the weather, you may get a glimpse of Kedarnath & Badrinath peaks via mounted binoculars. Sadly, we couldn’t get to see it since the weather was cloudy.
We took the ride back and said our final goodbye to the ultimate queen of hills with the hope of visiting soon.

Our Package Details
Since the trip was short-notice, we had no hotels or sightseeing booked for Mussoorie. The place was new to us, and finding hotels became a task. That’s when my husband connected with team Unreal. They came to our rescue immediately. It was no less than a blessing in disguise.
Within half an hour, they sorted everything for us. The team customised a package and provided us with 2-3 accommodation options, including meals and sightseeing. They curated everything, keeping in mind our toddler’s comfort. Mind you, they are the best in the business. Our toddler was happy, so were we. Can’t thank them enough!
